Workshops & Master Classes

Lecture/Performance Program:

45-60 minutes in length this class is designed to expand the audiences’ perception of our physical and creative possibilities through discussion and demonstration. The program highlights the company’s philosophy that anyone can “enter the dance.” Our dances and interactive segments demonstrate that all people, regardless of perceived disability, have a dance inside them. Offering the message of inclusion and speaking as ambassadors of dance as an art form, our aim is to show the potential in all of us, especially when we have free and full access to our world.

Dance for People with Disabilities/The Diversity of the Art Form Workshop:

An active exploration and discussion for those interested in exploring and developing a professional career in the arts and/or for educators who wish to explore the inclusion of people with disabilities (physical, sensory and developmental) in the classroom and/or on stage. With society's increasing awareness and sensitivity to the issues of inclusion and accessibility, this workshop is designed to promote discussion and exploration of the methods, philosophies and insights on the diversity of the art form of dance and its place in the 21st century.

Dance Workshop:

A 60-75 minute hands-on class designed for enthusiasts of dance, music and acting. The workshop is an introduction to the basics of movement patterns in space, mixed rhythms and the many qualities of human expression. Different populations are invited to work as solo, partner and ensemble formations. Participants will explore the many possibilities of working in wheelchairs, with a cane, walker, crutches, or scooter.

Wheelchair Dance Technique:

An introductory class of the elements of moving in and with a wheelchair in an artful and dancerly way. The class explores the different possibilities and approaches to working with someone with a disability with the use of Creative Movement as well as technique. The participants will explore propulsion through space, turns, partnering and 'front-end' work exclusive to the 'sit-down' (wheelchair) dancer.
