The company is joined by all four members of the Verlezza family, three as choreographers, in two world premieres, flanking two recently acclaimed works.
The concert will feature:
The Secret Story choreographed by Sabatino Verlezza and Barbara Allegra Verlezza. This new work is a dramatic exploration of the detention and internment of 100,000 Italian Americans during World War II set to the exquisite music of John Corigliano.
The Golden Mean, which uses contemporary mixes of traditional music from different faiths, and is Verlezza’s Socratic pursuit of tolerance and inclusion through the balance of faith, passion and spirit.
In Blank Canvas, Sabatino Alexander Verlezza, explores the elements of de-humanization in a Hip-Hop style quartet. His Moments in Balance, an offering from the critically acclaimed community event “In Concert with Ludlow”, searches for equilibrium and stillness in relationship to community, self, and the intimacy of two people.

The delightful original story by Sabatino Verlezza and Tracy Pattison tells the tale of what happens to the animals and their keeper when the zoo closes for the season. The ballet is complete with bumbling thieves, the heroic Zoo Keeper, an orphan elephant and the magical Snow Angel of the animals’ creation. The family appropriate ballet is choreographed by Artistic Director Sabatino Verlezza with Assistant Director Tracy Pattison, set to the music of Saint-Saens, highlighting selections from Carnival of the Animals. Original choreography, costumes and lighting ensure the production will be loved for years to come.

“Illuminations” is a concert that celebrates the unique work of choreographer Sabatino Verlezza Verlezza Dance offers a thought- provoking concert with diverse repertory addressing the wide range of emotions inherent in the human condition and music to satisfy wide musical tastes. Verlezza Dance company premieres “Bachianas Brasileiras" featuring Soprano, Marla Berg with eight cellos as a chamber ensemble, and a re-staging of May O'Donnell's "Homage to Shiva". The students of the School of Verlezza Dance will also perform in “Spring is Bach 2008"

March 9, 2008: In-Concert with Ludlow: Celebrating the Sprit of Neighborhood Thru Music & Dance

The Shaker Arts Council in association with Verlezza Dance is presenting a benefit concert. The concert responding to the recent developments in the Ludlow community celebrates the history of Ludlow in support of our neighbors. The concert will feature Verlezza Dance, including critically acclaimed work "Tobi Roppo", premiere of two works "Moments of Balance" and "Rodeo" Additionally, several professional musicians including Marla Berg, William Clarence Marshall, Madeline Levitz, Luiz Coelho will preform Gershwin and Copeland. The Shaker Heights High School A Cappella chior, jazz and theater ensembles will also perform.
Visit The Shaker Arts Council to make contributions, proceeds to benefit the Ludlow Community Association to enhance youth programs and to foster inter-community collaborations.
