Verlezza Dance, the premiere modern dance company in Shaker Heights, Ohio, is a company of dancers of all ages and abilities, rooted in the classical modern traditions of the May O’Donnell technique and the choreography of Sabatino Verlezza. The company is committed to bringing dance to underserved populations through The School of Verlezza Dance, its Center for Arts and Wellness and as a presenting organization. Verlezza Dance programs include mainstage dance concerts, ongoing dance and wellness classes at The School of Verlezza Dance, educational assembly programs, lecture/performances, master classes, workshops, panel discussions, ongoing community-based programs, as well as the presentation of works of other related artists. The organization advocates art as an element of healthy living and promotes the rich creative possibilities that evolve when the traditional definition of dance is transcended.
